‘Not only did she create a unique and beautiful ceremony for us, but she also helped us so much with our journey before even getting to Scotland.’

Imagine you’re running away to Scotland to elope, you don’t know anyone, you aren’t familiar with the country, and you’re making the biggest commitment of your life. You’re floundering a bit and then you find Andrea, the kindest and most magical soul! Not only did she create a unique and beautiful ceremony for us, but she also helped us so much with our journey before even getting to Scotland.
Andrea and our photographers are the reason we tell everyone to elope. Most officiants seem to be more hands off, just figuring out the ceremony and really only confirming with you the day before your big day. That’s not the case with Andrea, she was in touch a lot, learning our quirks and listening to our dreams for our elopement. Our ceremony couldn’t have been better, it was perfect! Andrea made it the most beautiful sacred space for us to commit to one another. It was comfortable and so easy to stay in the moment with her. She has a true talent and we are so thankful we found her!

‘I wouldn’t have dreamed of feeling brave enough to share the words I did without feeling so comfortable with Andrea as our celebrant.’

When we set about choosing our non-religious ceremony we didn’t know there were other options than Humanist. When we looked into humanist beliefs we didn’t feel the type of ceremony really captured us as individuals, a couple or reflected our families values. So, we kept our eye out for any other options. I first found Andrea on Instagram, tagged in a beautiful rooftop wedding in Edinburgh. I read about Agnostic Scotland and their ethos and it struck a cord with us. We arranged a zoom call with Andrea and chatted to her about our dream ceremony, what we wanted to include, how we wanted it to feel and the meaning behind it for us. Andrea was so easy to talk to, made us feel listened to and also shared great ideas and options when we needed some support. We loved being able to meet Andrea in person on a few occasions during wedding planning as we knew by the wedding day she really knew us as people and could properly share our love story. Andrea supported our choice to write our own vows and guided us without controlling anything. I wouldn’t have dreamed of feeling brave enough to share the words I did without feeling so comfortable with Andrea as our celebrant. On the day, the ceremony was the most commented on aspect of our wedding. There were moments in the ceremony where we could just really feel the love in the room. Andrea’s telling of our story was unbelievably perfect, and a beautiful mix of ritual, cultural tradition, poetry and personal vows, moments of reflection, inclusion, loving humour and fun. Choosing an Agnostic ceremony and Andrea as our celebrant was one of the best decisions we made during wedding planning and I’m so glad it turned out to be such a true reflection of us. We really will cherish the memories forever. Thank you Andrea!

‘Every interaction felt like a massive warm hug from a friend cheering you on in the exciting moments and holding your hand in the trickier ones.’

‘Andrea was our guiding light through this whole process. From the very beginning, she created a space full of love, understanding, and encouragement while we explored what our marriage meant to us, and how we could translate that into our ceremony. We knew we didn’t want a traditional ceremony but had no idea what the alternatives looked like! Andrea spent time getting to really know us, and from there guided us through the process of how to build a ceremony that was authentic to us, all while radiating acceptance and love. Every interaction felt like a massive warm hug from a friend cheering you on in the exciting moments and holding your hand in the trickier ones. She helped us at every turn, if and when we needed it. She was such an integral part of this next step in our lives, and we feel so grateful for the time we had with her. We’ve never met anyone quite like her, and feel incredibly lucky to have had the privilege to do so.

Andrea was undoubtedly one of the best things that has ever happened to us, and we will be forever grateful.

We are so happy that Andrea held our wedding ceremony earlier this year. We were guided through creating a ceremony with such kindness, professionalism and thoughtfulness. With Andrea’s expert and friendly help, we created a ceremony that was just right for us both. From start to finish it was both a fun and sincere experience. On the day, Andrea was wonderful; warm and entertaining. A family member commented to me afterwards how Andrea made everyone feel so welcome and part of the ceremony.
Thank you so much.

‘We cannot recommend Andrea enough, genuinely, she was an incredible part of our ceremony.’

Literally from the moment we met we could tell Andrea was the right vibe for us. Easy to speak to, interesting and with so much warmth. The way Andrea gathers your anecdotes, memories and thoughts just feels so natural and comfortable. We loved going through our homework, a little wander through who we are. Andrea wove our story into a beautiful ceremony that just felt entirely us, with all the right ebb and flow. We cannot recommend Andrea enough, genuinely, she was an incredible part of our ceremony. The perfect person to have with us.

‘We wouldn’t simply recommend that you choose Andrea as your celebrant; we actively 𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘦 you to.’

Having Andrea as our wedding celebrant was a pleasure and a privilege. As two perfectionist producers and passionate hosts, who often delve into over-dissecting, over-caring and over-sharing, choosing Andrea was one of the easiest desicions we’ve ever made. In fact, she was the 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 celebrant we invited into our story, as within seconds of meeting, we both knew we wanted her to guide us through this immensely meaningful chapter of our lives. As we shut the laptop on our first ‘𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘭’ video call, we both beamed at each other, blurting “YES!”

We were clear from the beginning that we wanted our ceremony to honour our queerness, our beliefs, and feel authentic to us. We didn’t want, at any point, to feel as though we were getting married for anyone else but ourselves.

Andrea held our hands throughout the entire process, making us feel happy, safe and free to curate a ceremony that reflected us as individuals and a couple. At no point were we scared, nervous or overwhelmed – we had our fairy wed-mother on the case.

Thanks to Andrea’s wisdom and wizardry, the ceremony flowed effortlessly. Bursting with tears, laughter and moments of raw vulnerability, it felt simultaneously familiar and natural to us, yet immeasurably noteworthy, like a serious shift, surrendering deeper into truth, after years of performing. With Andrea’s help, we welcomed our family into our love story: past, present and future.

Andrea holds space with confidence, patience, grace and kindness. She captured our loved ones’ attention and imagination, and took them on a journey, valuing each person present.

Andrea has a grounding, gentle, respectful, maternal presence, that still – post-wedding – soothes and inspires us. She gets us, and she feels like a friend now.

For those who don’t know, Andrea offers herself to the most poignant, poetic moments of people’s lives – birth, marriage and death. Though she makes it seem so, it can’t be easy. It takes a very special soul to do that.

We wouldn’t simply recommend that you choose Andrea as your celebrant; we actively 𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘦 you to.

‘We couldn’t have asked for a more encouraging, joyful, understanding and dedicated celebrant.’

When starting to plan our wedding, we thought the ceremony was the mushy bit we’d want to get out of the way, done and dusted quickly. Talking about our emotions was not one of our strong points, least of all out loud in front of our family and friends!
However when we started to plan our ceremony with Andrea our feelings changed quickly. Our ‘love homework’ really got us chatting about our life together, our values and what we appreciate in each other. The ceremony became the most important part of the day, as it should be, and we felt it truly represented us as a couple and as a family with our daughter.
Andrea made a huge effort to get to know us all and our ceremony used both our own voices and Andrea’s voice to tell our story and create our promises to each other. She did this in a way that felt comfortable for us, as well as being entertaining and clear for our friends and family.
Thank you Andrea, we couldn’t have asked for a more encouraging, joyful, understanding and dedicated celebrant.

‘We really loved our ceremony and so many people commented on how lovely and personal it was. You really did capture our story and told it so well, you really have an amazing way with words!
Only feedback we have is keep doing what you’re doing as it’s worth the work from us for you to get a feel for our personality and story!!’

Andrea was a perfect match for us all the way through the process. We enjoyed getting to know her and even when things got stressful Andrea was always available for a chat online or to meet up and discuss our plans and put our minds at ease.

With Andrea we were able to enjoy creating the ceremony we wanted through reminiscing about our lives together so far and wondering about what our future together will be like.

The ceremony was exactly what we wanted. It was personal, special and a perfect reflection of our relationship. Andrea expertly incorporated readings and poems created by our family, and wove them through the whole ceremony.

We have had so many positive comments about the ceremony and can’t thank Andrea enough. She couldn’t have done a better job! The perfect start to married life.

Thanks again for everything!

‘As a couple who don’t normally like talking to others about our feelings Andrea had a way of helping us share our love for each other in the most genuine and authentic way.’

‘From the moment we met Andrea we felt relaxed in her company. As a couple who don’t normally like talking to others about our feelings Andrea had a way of helping us share our love for each other in the most genuine and authentic way. We looked forward to our meet ups and enjoyed talking with Andrea about our wedding ceremony (and lots of other everyday things). On the day Andrea managed to capture us perfectly as a couple and our love for one another with just the right amount of humour. She clearly knew us well and delivered the ceremony with passion and an understanding of the relaxed approach we wanted on the day. We will be forever thankful to Andrea for making our wedding ceremony so personal and special.’

She’s very easy to work with and so friendly and kind. Andrea created the most beautiful ceremony for us, with all elements that were important to us. ‘On the wedding day itself Andrea’s energy shone brightest holding us in a ceremony full of laughter, depth, and beauty.’

Andrea shines with a special energy that can’t easily be articulated. She consistently brought this energy to our meetings – virtual and in-person – in the months and weeks that preceded our wedding, helping to shape our ceremony in an unobtrusive and supportive way. These planning sessions with her and the love homework that she gave us are some of our favourite memories of the entire process. On the wedding day itself Andrea’s energy shone brightest holding us in a ceremony full of laughter, depth, and beauty. The ceremony being the first ‘event’ of the day, this truly set the bar for what was the most fantastic, memorable day we could ever have hoped for— several friends even commented that they would like Andrea to do their ceremony when they get married! Andrea was incredibly helpful and supportive providing the right amount of structure and advice to help us co-create the ceremony, while providing flexibility and space to make it our own. She understood our desire to introduce a degree of spirituality to the ceremony that would make guests of all faiths and beliefs feel welcome, while creating a ceremony that was authentic to us and our values. Andrea was even willing to help us play the music for the ceremony on her phone when our previously agreed arrangement did not work out. When we asked Andrea if we could incorporate a ritual with one of Annelise’s family heirlooms, the “arras”, Andrea took the time to research the tradition and shared ideas on how best to weave it into the ceremony so it all flowed. We feel lucky to have been able to create our ceremony with a person with such vibrancy, humour, openness, and thoughtfulness as Andrea and to have gotten to know her in this process.

Laurence and Annelise, October 2022

‘Andrea kept everything true to our values, included any special requests and made lots of amazing suggestions. All our guests still talk about how amazing she was!’

Without a doubt, Andrea made our wedding day, and the lead up to the wedding even more special than we could have imagined.
We really wanted to have a personalised ceremony that was memorable and special to us and our families. Andrea went above and beyond our expectations in making this reality.
She took the time to get to know us over multiple calls, emails and face to face meetings. We always felt so comfortable telling her our story and had such a laugh during the process.
Our ceremony was everything we wanted it to be and more. Andrea created the perfect balance of joy, happiness and our story. We could not recommend her enough. She kept everything true to our values, included any special requests and made lots of amazing suggestions. All our guests still talk about how amazing she was!
We still keep in touch too, which shows just how much she really cares. We can’t wait to catch up with her again soon!

Rachel and Laurence, July 2021

We can honestly say it was not just us that felt the palpable ‘love in the air’, but our guests also thought she was amazing.

Andrea’s ability to weave our stories together, and then relay these words in an engaging, loving and funny way really made our ceremony truly special. We are really thankful for the support and kindness she offered through the whole process. This is turn made the planning of the ceremony a joyous activity. Through her delivery and inviting, friendly nature she created a ceremony filled with love, happiness and more than a few tears. We can honestly say it was not just us that felt the palpable ‘love in the air’, but our guests also thought she was amazing. We cannot imagine a better person to have been part of our day, and would love other couples to have the same magical experience we did.

“We got to meet Andrea in person only on the day of the ceremony, and it felt like we were meeting an old, good friend.”

Andrea wrote the most beautiful and heartfelt ceremony for our elopement day. She provided us with structure and advice, therefore the whole process felt very stress free and supported. We found Andrea to be very experienced and professional, and her approach to her work is definitely sweet and personal and it all was reflected in the ceremony. We are grateful for all the Zoom sessions and your patience throughout the 2020 and into 2021, it was a long ride filled with unforeseen circumstances!

We got to meet Andrea in person only on the day of the ceremony, and it felt like we were meeting an old, good friend. The ceremony itself was so well thought-through and it perfectly encaptured our love story, we couldn’t have wished for it to be any better. We had the most amazing day and experience, thank you again Andrea, you started off our adventure as husband and wife in the best possible way!

“With Andrea’s support and patience we went from utterly clueless to totally clued up.”

To sum up Andrea in a few words, we aren’t sure how we would have got married without her!
From our first meeting, Andrea’s knowledge and professionalism shone through and was delivered with so much warmth, kindness and genuine excitement for our big day that we were confident we were in good hands. We were amazed at the amount of time and energy she devoted to getting to know us and making sure our ceremony was exactly what we wanted. No question was too silly and no ask too much – with Andrea’s support and patience we went from utterly clueless to totally clued up. We loved every second of our big day and Andrea played a huge part in making that happen. Thank you!

“Andrea made the day feel special, fun and full of smiley joy, even in the rain!”

We loved having Andrea as our wedding celebrant. It was lovely getting to know her leading up to the wedding. She remembered every detail of our conversations and our wedding ceremony was so personal, funny and unique. Andrea made the day feel special, fun and full of smiley joy, even in the rain! We would (and already have) recommend her to all our friends.

“My partner and I had struggled to find someone who would allow us to truly personalise our wedding (which seems mad now); including religious elements from both of our families faith backgrounds and at the same time, making it an inclusive space where all were welcome.”

Andrea has the most amazing approach to her role as a celebrant. We were clueless about the entire process but she was there as the most excellent guide, supporting us with open mindedness and encouragement as we explored ideas and crafted our ceremony together.

My partner and I had struggled to find someone who would allow us to truly personalise our wedding (which seems mad now); including religious elements from both of our families faith backgrounds and at the same time, making it an inclusive space where all were welcome. Andrea provided exactly that, an entirely bespoke, meaningful and memorable experience that truly reflected us as a couple. Thanks to Andrea, we really did have the perfect ceremony for us, and family and friends on the day agreed. She is a beautiful soul with a unique talent to nurture and bring to life all the bits that matter to you and ensure your ceremony is one of a kind.

Nicola and Anish, July 2021

When we were planning our wedding the ceremony was one of the most important elements to us.

When we were planning our wedding the ceremony was one of the most important elements to us. As we were creating the wedding we wanted, we also wanted our ceremony to reflect us as a couple and what we believed in. The beauty of it was that we added our own special elements, rituals and traditions just as we had hoped and Andrea guided us through the whole process. I would highly recommend Agnostic Scotland and Andrea to anyone who wants a ceremony that is unique, one of a kind and beautifully tailored to the individuals who are getting married. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding and celebrant xxx

“For us that’s what weddings should be, a participative, not spectator event!”

‘We can’t thank you enough for telling our story in such a wonderful warm, romantic, funny and engaging way. We both loved how generously you brought our friends and family into the story and along the journey. For us that’s what weddings should be, a participative and not spectator event!’

Endorsements from the very same saying how much they enjoyed it, so beautifully crafted, not an ounce of stuffiness, very personable and that extended after the ceremony too.’

Carol and Chas, married June 2021

Andrea’s work is not only about the words that represent your union on the day, but also how you want the physical space to feel.

Like so many in 2020 our wedding plans were usurped, reshaped and moulded into something brand new. Our original plan had been a 100 person ceremony with family and friends followed by a weekend of celebrations, however, that was not to be. What replaced this original plan was something more intimate and special, as Andrea likes to call it – A Micro Wedding, where the focus moved from the celebration to the ceremony. With barely a couple of week’s notice we had to put our plan in motion. Andrea took all of this in her stride and at short notice was able to adapt and create a ceremony that was unique and memorable for us.

Before the dreaded COVID-19 came into all of our lives, we had already started the process of planning our ceremony with Andrea. The creative tasks that she gave us really helped us to tap into how we wanted our ceremony to look and feel. From exercises for us to complete both separately and together to ideas of rituals or additions to our ceremony that would never have crossed our minds – it was clear from the start that our ceremony was going to be something that truly represented us and our story. Nothing was off the table when it came to how we wanted our ceremony to look and this really made it feel like our own, this was not just an adaptation of a wedding ceremony but a personal ritual, that between us, had been created solely for us.

When we decided that an intimate, ‘micro’ celebration was what we wanted to move forward with, Andrea adapted beautifully and made herself available for us at any time to ensure we felt prepared and comfortable with our new ceremony plan. One thing that sets Andrea apart in her work is her insistence on getting to spend time with and know you – both together as a couple but also individually. This truly came into focus when we had only two weeks to finish preparing our ceremony.

Andrea’s work is not only about the words that represent your union on the day, but also how you want the physical space to feel. The symbolic thought behind so many of Andrea’s ideas and thoughts make your ceremony feel even more special as there is meaning behind things that no one else there will see. An intimacy to the day that is reserved just for you.

There is no other word to use for our day apart from magical and so much of this is down to Andrea’s input. We truly couldn’t have envisioned anyone else marry us. Thank you Andrea for your thoughtfulness, wisdom and most of all for being a part of our day.

Lots of love

“Andrea’s ceremony was so beautiful, it really made our day!”

Sam Ezra McYoung

When we originally got in touch with Andrea we didn’t know too much about Agnostic Scotland. Andrea took the time to explain to us what Agnostic Scotland stood for, and more importantly openly discussed with us whether it was right for us as a couple.

Once we had agreed to have Andrea as our celebrant we arranged an initial face-to-face meeting in Glasgow. (The distant days before lockdown!). From the very start Andrea made us feel both calm, relaxed and welcome.

We shared some of our story about how we met and our expectations from the wedding. Andrea was engaged and interested to hear our story, listening attentively and intrigued to hear how we fell in love.

As the plans for our wedding developed, we met up with Andrea a few more times and shared more of our story and opened up about what was important to us as a  couple and our expectations of married life. We always looked forward to our meetings with Andrea.

Just before lockdown kicked in Andrea also came out to visit our wedding venue in Glasgow. This was a wonderfully personal touch and it showed us how invested Andrea was in creating the most special ceremony that she could for us on our special day.

Then lockdown started…..

Our wedding plans, originally having over 100 guests in June 2020, was no longer possible.

We kept an ongoing dialogue with Andrea during this time over video calls, discussing our options. More importantly though, Andrea was always on hand to remind of us that we have each other and we were already in such a privileged position.

We decided that we didn’t want to wait to get married, so we agreed to have a small ceremony on the 25thJuly 2020, in line with the Scottish Government guidelines.

The ceremony was an intimate affair with both of our immediate families attending.

Andrea had listened carefully during all of our meetings, and had taken in all the aspects of our relationship from before we met to getting engaged and beyond. Not only that, she had taken time to speak to our family members to capture the nuances of our personalities. Her attention to detail was second to none and that came shining through in her ceremony.

What Andrea delivered was truly special. Both Audrey and I felt that the ceremony truly captured who we are as a couple and she presented our story and our vows and future aspirations in the most truly beautiful way.

As we embark on the next stages of our life as a married couple we will keep in touch with Andrea, as she was such a big part of the most special day of our lives.

Robbie & Audrey Bowie Cameron, married 25th July 2020.
